Thoughts of a restless sleeper

When first you see the sky colours changing and brightening then rejoice, morning is on its way.

Remember sound is louder at night. That dog may not be next door ,despite the noise, but several streets away.

Tossing and turning is not the ideal way to waken your bed mate. They may want to sleep a little longer, especially at 3am.

Counting sheep will not work if you are a spinner. You will be trying to identify the breeds going by.
In extreme circumstances you may even go so far as to work out the length of the wool staple.

Neither going to bed early nor late will help.

If you are having a restless night then face it , it is your turn.

Pain killers do not work as quickly at night. Maybe they are a daytime medication and need their sleep at night also.

Would a hot drink help?

We then go back to the bed mate. Will he or she appreciate the request for a cuppa?

Will they want to sit up and talk while you drink said cuppa, and while you enumerate the reasons for not sleeping?

And, after all this tossing and turning ,
remember
there is always tomorrow.

I never thought before of the hazards of counting sheep for a spinner! LOL! You'll have to switch to pigs or cows or something!

Strangely enough I reversing my direction of sleep to be a useful remedy. Bed mates may not be so happy with this arrangement however.

As I have not had a full night's sleep for a year or more I can understand how you feel.
The pain in my knees always seems far worse when I am in bed so I think that you are right. Painkillers don't seem to work during the night.
I can nod off at the drop of a hat during the day. I probably do get my 6 hours of sleep but in bits and pieces duting the night and the day.

If I do manage to get more than 3 hrs sleep in one stretch then I am so stiff and sore the day after that it hardly seems worth it!
