Swatching

I want to make a hat for the Winter and decided to try Woolly Wormheads Marina pattern. As it is sideways knit I thought I better swatch:( Tried 2 yarns up to now and think I may have just got gauge. I'm still obsessed with shawl knitting and lace at that.
I've been quiet because the cold and damp are affecting my health and making me generally feel yuck. More later

This and that

I've taken delivery of a new spinning wheel, another Ashford Traveller. She tells me her name is Tallulah:)
Lulu the Lendrum has gone to a new home because we were not getting on at all.
I've decided that it was mainly because of my health problems. Having one leg and ankle that are very much bigger than the other side affects my spinning on a wheel that is not a true double treadle. I seemed to push harder with the bad leg which affected the balance and made the fibre jerk as it was taken up by the bobbin.
Total nightmare to spin which kind of defeats the relaxing object doesn't it?

So Lulu went and Tallulah arrived.

She came yesterday and Mr Mog waxed her and put her together for me. I started spinning as soon as she was ready and it is so comforting to be able to spin once more.

It has been a while since we spoke, what has been going on chez Moggie?

We house and cat sit for a friend for a few days. great to have a coal fire once more and having furry friends was a real delight.

Had lots going on with the aged aunt. Sadly she was very ill and ended up in hospital with acute renal failure and various other things.
She is still there but improving a little. She will hopefully be going into a nursing home in the next few weeks as she has accepted she is not able to cope on her own.
It doesn't seem as if she will be moving up to a care home near us but that is ok as it is what she prefers.

MiL is doing really well in her care home, better than we have seen her for many a day. The good food, company and health care are working wonders on her.

Spring is here with a vengeance, lots of warm days and sunshine.

Mr Mog planted potatoes in bags today, peas and beetroot.
Flowers are everywhere adding their colour to the place.

I am very sore but trying to do without my pain relief as much as I can to give my body a rest from all the chemicals.

Looking forward to a trip to Wonderwool next week, a chance to meet up with friends and like minded people.

Working with new tarot cards, waking the wild spirit tarot from Poppy Palin.

and there you have it:)

How is the world with you?

Thank you:) And still need a Lendrum spinning wheel.

Thank you very much for all the encouraging comments and emails I've had. So much healing energy abounds that it is very heartening to be part of it.
I'm trying some of the suggestions received to combat the current pain. BW Yours especially. I'm not normally dependent on chemical solutions as I hate the idea but I did succumb to the various pills offered by the doctors just to get by and keep the pain under control somewhat.
I'm detoxing now and trying to use just oils, healing and positive thinking. I know that I can't get rid of my health stuff and don't wish my life away on that thought. All I want is for the pain to be tolerable and manageable.
Anyways, on with other things. I have just finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and loved it. I never saw the tv series but had recently re read my Graveyard book by him and this led me on to neverwhere. I'm so pleased it did as I was captivated all the way through.
Not sure what to read next, do I go back to old favourites or start something new?
I am reading a book on Bach flower remedies and their uses as I have been very interested in them for a long while. I don't want to rush in blind and just purchase some without a little knowledge.
I've been knitting and spinning. I'm making a very silky soft shawl at the minute. It is a strand of green mohair handspun from the Wool Clip and a strand of the most silky eyelash I purchased from Jo over in Ireland many moons ago. The shawl feels like silky fur and is so tactile it is unbelievable. I want to wrap myself up in it and it is only small yet.
I am still asking all and sundry if they know anyone selling a Lendrum spinning wheel. I may be able to get one new hopefully by Christmas if they arrive in the country but obviously being an impatient Leo(VBG) I don't want to wait. Plus if I can buy one that someone isn't using that would be all to the good, less cost for one thing.
So dear readers if you know anyone who has a Lendrum spinning wheel languishing at home, do let me know. I promise to take good care of it and spin often on it:)
