Autumn

I bet you didn't think I'd blog again so soon:)
Today we went to a Greenwood fair, mainly to see a new artist who I had recently found. She has a definite affinity with hares. Her etsy shop is Wilderness Felt. We had purchased this a little while ago and I was entranced.

Isn't she gorgeous? so naturally when I found out Wilderness Felt would be at the fair we had to go along. There was quite a lot going on especially fun if you had children -lots of fun things to try. We had a little mooch of the stalls and spent a long time with the raptor charity who had brought a few birds along, all rescued some in absolutely heartbreaking circumstances. They had a little owl who couldn't perch properly as it had been found living in a hamster cage:( I spent some time communing with and stroking, a barn owl. he was beautiful.
Mr Mog purchased this felt picture
my photo doesn't really show the hare at its best, its actually more defined in real life. We didn't spend long there so decided to call in garden centre on way home for a bite to eat. there were more colours to be seen today
I sat in the cafe trying to find pieces of paper to write on, i didn't have my note book with me. I ended up picking up a couple of receipts off the tray that had been left on our table. I knew I had to write while the words were bubbling out. I was watching crows over the trees outside, hundreds of them. this is what I wrote.
A murder of crows or is it a massacre when so many?
Trees of gold and red, russet glowing in Autumn sunlight.
The smell of earth and mold.
Of Winters chill not far away.
But still joy to be found in Lady Autumn's beauty.
Her coat of many colours rustling as she passes
We give thanks for Her bounty.
Sloes and brambles staining fingers as we risk the thorns to grasp them
Sweet chestnuts - again in hedgehog spines. The horse chestnuts drop conkers on my head as I try to pick the fallen ones.
The apples now are ripe and drop gently into an outstretched palm at a flick of the wrist.

our nasturtiums have had a second flush and are so vivid around Mr Mogs railway

Little altars everywhere

I read a book with the above title many moons ago .The book did nothing for me but the title obviously stuck:)
We have been having an autumnal clear out and move round and after doing this the above phrase came into mind. I hadn't realised how many little altars there were around the house.

All hold things of meaning to me or us. The amethyst in here given by a friend who passed away a few years ago and the goddess pendant from the same person. The bowl was from a craft exchange some years ago and holds affirmation cards from another friend.
The goddess in here lost her arms in accidents a long time ago but is no less dear to me. Mr Mog needle felted the sheep for me.
The shrines were made by me a long while ago and the goddess came from a charity shop and I painted her. The pledge stick was made for me by Mr Mog.
Hares are special to me and I love this set of oracle cards from Hannah Willow
 Some of my  tarot packs.
I made this nest from some of my hand dyed and unspun fibres, it was going to be a bowl but when I added the magpie card it became a nest.
gifts and wheels, what more could you want:)
I purchased this last year at Mogfest from a very creative friend.
Yet more birds watching over the Buddha figure
this altar holds my card a day and items made for me in the main by Mr Mog or gifted by friends
 Wood I love
This is our incense cupboard that the Buddha guards, full of oils and ingredients for making incense. open the doors and the smell is out of this world
 Transformation butterfly

Colour lifts my spirits.

Not all were set up as altars but as I looked around I realised that they were because they reflect us both  spiritually and  creatively .

Hares and other things

Some more pictures for you today. It has been a weird week so far. We lost our mobile phone the other day while out and it was much more of a pain than I expected. I don't use it lots but I do need it, not just for the calling people but losing it meant I didn't have the mobile numbers I needed while out. Anyway some very kind person handed it in at the ranger hut where we had been so that restored my faith a lot. Laal Bear had texted me and the ranger heard it as the phone had then been handed in. He rang her and she told him who the phone belonged to. Thanks LB:)
The walk brought some brilliant pictures and these are just a few of them.
As you can see the sun was shining for us.
Lush displays of wild flowers fill my heart with joy.
This is a really useful herb, comfrey. When I was little my nan made me drink comfrey water for my joint problems and she also used to wrap the leaves around my joints. Its old country name is knitbone. It tasted like cabbage water as I now remember and wasn't nice, but then my grandparents tried all the remedies they knew to try and keep me out of hospital. Sadly it failed but not for want of trying.
There were also furry creatures crawling along the paths.
From there we went to babysit our grandchildren and look what we saw going down my daughters lane.
I was so thrilled to actually get pictures of the hare, I love them they are such magnificent creatures.
The pictures will enlarge if you click on them.
I've been knitting on the fire shawl, pictures maybe this weekend we will see how it goes.
