finished objects(well almost on one)

Firstly a hat I knit for mr mog, quick and fairly easy and on 4 NEEDLES no less:) So why can I do hats but not socks? answers on a virtual postcard please
secondly this is the first shawl for the Hospice lunar year. You will notice I haven't managed to cast off the final stitches. That would be because I ran out of yarn./ I was convinced I had enough to cast off honest, but I didn't. So I'm awaiting Jo's return from holiday to get a little more from her. I reckon I'm around 2 metres short. I tried pulling back but it won't.

You could always cast off in something contrasting, or are the colours of your shawls going to be coordinated with the seasons?

Know what you mean about socks, I knit gloves on 4 needles fine and have even knitted two pairs of socks this year but they seem a lot of effort for something that wears out so fast. However there are some gorgeous sock yarns out there.

Oh, I hate it when that happens!! So close! The shawl looks lovely and cozy warm :)

Amber, the shawl is beautiful, am really looking forward to seeing it blocked out! Love the hat!
There is another cast off, the crochet cast off, takes lots less yarn and very easy to do...google for it? I know in a past Harlot post she showed it.

Amber, you can cast off with no yarn left. Take a crochet hook, start at the end of the yarn opposite the live yarn. Pick up the first stitch on the crochet hook, pick up the second stitch and pull it through the first. Now pick up the next one and pull it through the one on the hook. Do that all the way across and you're bound off. If you have even an inch left, you can tie it off from there and you're done! p.s. I've been trying to post comments on your blog and it hasn't let me. If it works this time, I swear I haven't been ignoring you!

Amber, what Ms.K wrote, that's exactly the bind-off I was trying to remember!
Thank you for stopping by and wishing me happy birthday, it truly means a lot to me :)

Lovely hat. Shame about running out yarn before the cast off - it's always the way isn't it!?

Well done, you quick knitter! I'm still about half of the skein to go with my Imbolc shawl (but then I get easily distracted with other projects. ^^). Sorry to hear about the yarn shortage, the shawl looks cozy! ^^
