What I'm spinning now

As I mentioned in a previous post my current spinning is using batts from Laal Bear.
They are rather bright and have the name Happy Hippy:)
This fibre is a mix of mohair, merino and trilobal nylon and spins beautifully. I love the way the colours flow onto the bobbin as I spin.

Isn't it lush? Like a cloud of silk

A close up of the bobbin although a little blurred. I've now almost filled the first bobbin.
Can you tell I like this fibre?

Full moon helps spinning official:)

It is official, the full moon helps spinning. Don't believe me? Wait until you scroll down.

This was the most fabulous full moon the other night.
Doesn't she look luscious? It seems to have been an odd moon phase this to say the least. I know I am not alone in thinking this many of my friends have had the same month. It was a case of "phew" when she reached full.
Lots of different stuff, mainly health I'm afraid although the rotten rat who stole from my debit card didn't help. And BW I don't have a credit card, I'm one of the strange people who doesn't. I prefer to use my debit card or paypal. Or did until now.

But as I said in the title I've been spinning. I had a lot of problems this time as my hands are playing up. Quite often I can't feel the fibre so it doesn't draft at all smoothly. It is either stuck in my hands or running too freely because I can't grip.
I haven't given up as you can see:-

This was merino given to me by Laal Bear. Now merino isn't a good fibre to spin as a beginner apparently. That probably didn't help.

Doesn't look bad does it? I'm thinking of making a moebius cowl with it as it is very soft.

More socks and snow pics, cotton gloves question.

Lets start with the snow shall we? We went up to Cumbria at the weekend to see friends and to visit mum. Luckily we did as you saw in my previous post. BTW she is comfortable in hospital and is having treatment and various tests. More info as we know more.
The journey up was delightful as there was much snow. The journey home not as nice as we had a blizzard all the way home. But these pictures show a little of how beautiful Cumbria looks in the snow.

The picture above was at Westmorland services Tebay. As you can see there has been quite a lot of snow.
This was the M6 near Sedbergh
Then there has been much knitting This is a skein of natural dye studio 4ply and a skein of unknown that I mixed together for a pair of hospice socks.

A better picture of the colour when wound together.

Here you see the first sock

Then these were double knit yarn I traded with Laal Bear. Wasn't sure there was enough for a pair of socks so added the orange .
This is my valentines day sock in progress. Also for YOSH. Yarn is 4ply hand dyed that I've used double. They will be ankle socks.
Now a plea, my hands are still really sore and I'm wondering if a pair of cotton gloves would help. Any ideas where I could get some fine ones please?

Laal Bear socks finished and a question on noon.

Finished the lovely citrus/fresh socks using the yarn that Ursula at the Laal Bear kindly donated. Don't they zing? With, you will note, eye of partridge heel. What next for the moggie? Could it be lacy socks or patterns? Yeah right:) I think small steps don't you? This is second pair for July for the hospice. The yarn was very soft and easy on the hands. Ursula does some gorgeous colours, email her for more details.
I've started a pair of socks for Mr Mog in the yarn that Maylin dyed specially for him, a dark rainbow that he loves , thank you Maylin you cheered him up, the colours are very him.
The twitch is getting worse and making Mr Mog quite upset. Can't wait til next week when we can hopefully find out what it is and how to fix it.

Now a question for you
Noon - is it 12am or 12pm? I know, a simple question but after doing a little survey around pubs/restaurant opening hours around here you'd be amazed how it differs from place to place.

Finally a little more colour for you in one of the tubs, calendula and nasturtiums

Latest socks and Mr Mog update

Latest socks finished for the hospice. This one is Laal Bears Blue faced Leicester sock yarn, shade pansy. I purchased this at Woolfest from Ursula and it is wonderful. So soft and easy to knit. I recommend it:)

please notice my new heel. I have branched out, what do you think?
This is the 100% merino 4ply yarn from Martasyarns.com.au. Doesn't it look stunning? This was my normal heel.

Mr Mog didn't get any positive news at the Oncologist, didn't get negative either though which is good. She said it was early days when I asked if the op and radiotherapy were a success. She said go and enjoy our life and not worry. He has now been prescribed hormones in tablet form instead of the monthly injections. The only down side is that the twitch in Mr Mog's face hasn't gone . It is there all the time and when he is tired it is much much worse. It is getting him down so I'm making another appointment with doctor for next week.
Not much else going on, I am still very sore from Woolfest.
